Children have not developed abstract reasoning abilities and verbal processing skills needed to verbally make sense of and express all the big things life throws their way. This often leads to frustration, confusion, anxiety, big feelings, and even bigger behaviors. This interactive workshop will help participants develop an understanding, within the lens of Polyvagal Theory, of what leads children to have big emotions and unhelpful behaviors. Participants will increase their ability to identify the best interventions to utilize during emotional episodes depending on what part of the child’s brain is functioning. Participants will learn a mixture of practical Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy techniques to help intervene before, during, and after big emotional episodes.
Who should attend: Both those who are new to play therapy or who work with children and seasoned Play Therapy clinicians will learn strategies you can take into your play room when you return to work on Monday! This training was designed as a multilevel training for those new to the Play Therapy field all the way to adding new tools, different approaches, and distinct skills for more seasoned Play Therapists. Wondering if this course is right for you? Let's talk! Email me HERE!
At the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
